I (like so many other people pursuing their artistic/musical dreams) have a day job. I really enjoy reading articles on leadership and management strategy. I find that as inspiring as they can be in a business context, they are also really inspiring from a personal growth standpoint (aka following your dreams!!). Anyway, I was listening to CBC and they were interviewing Clive Beddoe (Co-founder of WestJet). He said the following which I enjoyed. I'm sure we have all heard similar things before but here it is again:

Clive Beddoe, Co-Founder of WestJet (speaking on leadership in Canadian companies):

“I think that companies - if they really believed in their employees more, trusted in their employees more and gave the employees more opportunities to participate in the success of the company, they would unleash a much greater level of commitment and productivity within their organizations. I think that there is a tendency to want to control and contain information; not to necessarily trust employees for fear of repercussions. My experience has been that when you trust and empower people it’s amazing what they ultimately do for you. My perspective is that there is a great opportunity to adopt a different approach and give people an opportunity to participate. Most people in life don’t put out all that they’re capable of. They put out what they have to and maybe a bit more but not a lot more. I’ve always believed that people can put out a lot more if they are motivated to do so. It does not come from above but from within. It has to be within the person to want to do more and how do you unleash that?”

Sooo...I was enjoying our first real day of spring, going for a wee run, and as I was flying at the speed of light (let me dream), I noticed this posted up at our Arts Centre,"19 on the Park".

I am a avid practitioner of yoga...I practically live beside a beautiful studio and go as often as I can. So whilst surrounded by beautiful scenery why not take some shots? ...Much to my photographer's chagrin (aka Kieran, the best little bro a gal could ask for!).

I found myself talking with Bon Iver last night...quite a random encounter but such a memorable one at that. It was ironic as I had just finished discussing my complete admiration for his music and what he represents, which in a nutshell is humility and talent. Anyway, won't ramble. But what a pleasure - him, and his show at Massey Hall. Wishing that lovely man nothing but the best.

I haven't written in a while...I guess not all that much to write about. I did however put a new song up yesterday. I wrote this song a few months ago, but thought it was a good one to share on a day where you are reminded of the passage of time. I posted the lyrics as well. Take a listen!
